Our Favorite Scripture Passages to Encourage Moms

Bible Verses for EncouragementAs moms, we are going to have rough days. Maybe we feel like we were too harsh with our kids, or maybe we wish we had more money to send them to that private school, or maybe we are just exhausted from staying up all night with a sick toddler. At one time or another, we are going to feel discouraged. Thankfully, God doesn’t want us to stay discouraged. There are so many encouraging verses in the Bible designed to lift your spirits and feed your soul. Here are our favorite Bible passages to read when we need encouragement.

How happy is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways! You will be happy, and it will go well for you.  (Psalms 128:1-2)

The Psalms are filled with such uplifting and gracious words. This is a book of the Bible that we will read over and over again when we are battling with anxiety or depression. This verse in particular is a great reminder to walk in the ways of the Lord. We will find encouragement when we do so.

As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you. (Isaiah 66:13)

God compares his comfort to the comfort you provide for your children. There is no greater compliment than this. You are accomplishing more than you think momma and it does not go unnoticed by our loving God!

Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. (Exodus 20:12)

God has called you to be a mother. It is a position He holds in high regard. That’s why He expects His children to honor their parents and He rewards them when they do so.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. (Proverbs 31:30)

It’s easy to get discouraged about how we look, what type of clothes we wear or how often we actually do anything to our hair besides pulling it back into a messy bun. This verse is an excellent reminder that true beauty and worth is found within. You are worthy of praise for your devotion to God, not your looks.

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)

This verse is so simple, yet so powerful. As moms, we typically try to do things on our own strength and it often leaves us discouraged. Instead, we need to give it to Christ. He will be our strength!

I hope you find as much encouragement in these verses as we do. Once you have pondered these verses, we urge you to spend time in prayer. Pour out your heart to the God that loves and hears you!
